PLAN FOR DEVELOPING ANTI DRUG TRAFFICKING INTERNATIONAL MUTUAL LEGAL ASSISTANCE ARRANGEMENTS 1989-91

1. The ninth quarterly review meeting was held on 25 October. A record of the meeting is attached, with a progress report on the implementation of the plan. There have been a number of developments since the last meeting: notably signature of treaties with Malaysia and Nigeria, progress with a number of European countries and conclusion of arrangements with Gibraltar and Anguilla. We shall be sending copies of the progress report to all posts in parts 1-4. Future action is detailed in the "next step" column of the report.

Comments on the record of the meeting and progress report are welcome, especially additional information about relevant forthcoming Ministerial visits to priority countries. Views to Alisdair Walker please (270-2683). We would also welcome any views on the proposed targets for 1990-92

Copies of the papers also go to those attending the meeting and others in Whitehall with an interest.
