We shall, of course, consult you before making any such extensions.

We shall also be proceeding to sign and ratify the European Convention on Extradition. However it is still not clear how best to extend the application of the Convention to the Dependent Territories, or where this is not appropriate, to safeguard the present arrangements set out in our various bilateral treaties. Again, I shall be consulting you separately on this point.

6. For the time being the various Orders-in-Council deriving from the 1870 and 1967 Acts remain in force and there is no need at this stage for you to take any action locally. I shall, of course, be happy to try to answer any questions you may have about the new Act.
