ENHANCEMENT OF QUALITY:
A. STAFF TRAINING
>

Commercial Radio employs three hundred and thirty .people. Good quality staff means good quality
programmes and for this reason Commercial Radio has always placed great emphasis on the use of effective staff training in the development of the station. This policy will continue.
For many years summer interns have been accepted from the Chinese University, Hong Kong University, Polytechnic, Baptist College and Shue Yan and from a number of suitably qualified private studies.
A broadcaster needs an alert and perceptive mind and a good education but high educational qualifications and a well modulated voice do not necessarily combine to make a good radio personality. More important are quickness of thought, curiosity and adaptability. It is common sense, and an ability to project one's personality or a production out of the studio and into the minds or imagination of listeners that makes for good broadcasting.
Those who show promise and are interested in radio as a career are invited back for a second year. By the time they graduate they already have a working knowledge of the medium and some practical experience. By this time the company will have assessed whether they are suitable for training as producers, presenters, writers or journalists and they will undergo an intensive in-house training course.
