A SUMMARY OF FEEDBACK FROM LISTENERS ́ LETTERS RECEIVED_IN_THE_LAST FULL YEAR (1988) AND IN THE

LAST QUARTER (MARCH MAY 1989)

Most

1,040 letters were received, 97% of which came from Thailand. of the mail came in response to some kind of listener participation activity. Over half of the letters were addressed to the Booktalk programme which organises a monthly 'Book of the Month' competition, and а quarter to Letterbox. Other programmes to receive mail in measurable quantity were in bi-lingual English lessons, news and current affairs coverage,

Saturday Magazine and Science and Technology. Requests for programme guides and calendars and for the free texts of the English lessons appeared in about a half of the letters.

A

241 letters were received, most of them from Thailand. Booktalk continued to attract the largest proportion of mail, but the re-named Letterbox, now called P.Q.Box 1818 also proved popular. restructuring of the Thai Service output took place in early 1989 in that many programmes changed their presenters. There was quite a lot of positive feedback on these changes.
