HONG KONG: INTERVIEWS WITH THE TWO HONG KONG TV STATIONS

1. A joint interview with TVB and ATV of Hong Kong has been arranged for 1215 tomorrow 22 November. It will take place in the office of the PUS (due to the other suitable rooms having been booked).

There will be two camera crews, ie. one from each station, and four interviewers. Given the time available I have told the stations that they will be allowed one question each with the possibility of one supplementary within their question area. format will be as follows:

i) First questioner will be Miss Carmen Luk

with a general question about the visit of the OMELCO Delegation to which they expect a brief reply. She will then ask a question about Sino-UK relations almost certainly the editorial in the People's Daily of

20 November.

ii) The second questioner will be Mr Kim Ching Ko, also of TVB, who will ask about nationality and the right of abode.

iii) The third questioner will be Miss Julie Maplestone of ATV

who will ask about Vietnamese Boat People.

iv) The final questioner will be Miss Trinny Choy of ATV who will ask about the pace of democratisation in Hong Kong.

Perhaps we could have a word in the morning about what bull points the Minister may require.
