Please note that Sir S K Tang handed over a cheque for $11,685,500 to the Chief Secretary on 10 June 1986. Prior to that, arrangement had been made through

DAS to purchase £1 million at the rate of $11.6855 and to

place it on a Sterling Call Deposit Account with the

Standard Chartered Bank. The transaction took place on

12 June. DAS's confirmation is attached.
