THE ESTATE OF THE LATE SIR S K TANG
Thank you for your letter of 16 August 1989 and your phone call to me of 14 September. I very much regret that we have not been quicker responding to your letter.
As I mentioned to you over the telephone, events have not moved much further than they were at the beginning of the year. We are still considering the most appropriate legal ways of ensuring that this money does indeed qualify as a trust in the UK and that therefore when it is brought into the UK it will not suffer Tax. We are also still considering the details of the trust deed.
I can however reassure you that it is still our intention to make
one third of the funds, that is approximately $330,000, to the Institute for Cancer Research. I am, I regret to say, not able to tell you when we will actually be able to effect the transfer of money to you.
I shall ensure that you are kept aware of developments more regularly in the future.
Yours sincerly
V
