UK-HONG KONG SCHOLARSHIPS
1.
(copy attached)
You will have seen BTC Hong Kong telno 447 of 10 October. On present implementation of some 8 new awards each year (tenable for 3 years) one would expect to see a build-up to some 24 funded scholars in year 3 of the scheme (1990/91). Our understanding is that this would roughly utilise the scheme's current annual income. But this still seems to leave the accumulated funds un-utilised. It would be helpful to know how the Committee/Secretariat propose to use the accumulation
awards.

perhaps by funding a series of one-off 12 month
2. As a result of our recent telephone conversation I understand that the arrangements for administering the S K Tang Bequest are still not resolved. At an appropriate stage when you are in touch with Hong Kong on this subject it would be very helpful to ask Hong Kong for an accounting for the SK Tang Bequest and for the UK-Hong Kong Scholarships Scheme generally.
