Fixed Penalty (Traffic Contraventions) Ordinance
Interpretation
13. Section 2 of the Fixed Penalty (Traffic Contraventions) Ordinance (Cap. 237) is amended in the definition of "driver", "motor vehicle", "bus", "personal effects", "road", "taxi" and "vehicle" by adding " "private road"," after ""personal effects",".
Section added
14. The following is added after section 3—
"Application of Ordinance to private roads
3A. Sections 4, 5 and 6 shall apply to private roads as they apply to roads and, for that purpose---
(a) the other provisions of this Ordinance which relate, in any way, to
those sections; and
(b) the provisions of any other Ordinance which relate, in any way, to those sections or to the provisions referred to in paragraph (a),
shall apply accordingly.".

Motor Vehicles Insurance (Third Party Risks) Ordinance
15. The Motor Vehicles Insurance (Third Party Risks) Ordinance (Cap. 272) is amended by adding after section 2---

'Application of Ordinance to private roads
3. (1) For the avoidance of doubt, it is hereby declared that the provisions of this Ordinance shall apply to private roads as they apply to roads and, for that purpose, the provisions of any other Ordinance which relate, in any way, to the provisions of this Ordinance shall apply accordingly.
(2) For the purposes of this section, "private road" means a private road within the meaning of the Road Traffic Ordinance (Cap. 374).".
Interpretation
Housing Ordinance
16. Section 2 of the Housing Ordinance (Cap. 283) is amended in the definition of "road" by adding "or private road (as defined in section 2 of the Road Traffic Ordinance (Cap. 374))" after "Ordinance)".
Motor Vehicles (First Registration Tax) Ordinance
