Dear Mr. Stone,

I intended to write darlier but I was in the event not able to, since I have just returned to Hong Kong after paying a series of overseas visits, the last being to attend a conference in Japan.

I must thank you and your colleagues for affording the time to see me and for the useful discussion that we had at London. It has enhanced our mutual understanding and I hope that the problems of the conservation of the African elephant and the trade of ivory and the people affected could be solved satisfactorily at the coming CITES Conference.

I sincerely hope that you will support the draft resolution to allow the continued trade of the existing legally acquired ivory in the coming CITES Conference of Parties which, I understand, will be presented vide paper DOC 7.43.2 issued by the CITES Secretariat.

Thank you once again and with best regards,

sincerel

(Lawrence H.Y. Lee)
