COMMUNICATIONS

The basic communication requirement for all SAE Outline communications in the country being evacuated to each Part 2 plan.

130. Secure Voice (BRAHMS). There may be circumstances in which a MILO and/or a JFC will deploy in advance of the main force and may be required to contact the MOD (JOC) using secure voice means. BRAHMS secure voice equipment will be avail- able for this purpose, and it may be used over commercial telephone circuits. For details covering correct use of Keymat.

131. Contact with Refugees. Dissemination of information and advice to refugees through radio broadcasting service may be necessary. Details of local radio services are given in each Part 2 plan. 640 Signal Troop (EW) (see paragraph 134) also has a capability for providing a broadcast facility if required.

132. Activation of Defence Communication Network. The Controller Defence Communication Network (CDCN) is to arrange for the activation of Contingency Rear Link (Satellite) (CRL(S)), and Contingency Rear Link (High Frequency) (CRL (HF)) anchor station facilities as appropriate when an SAE is implemented.

133. Message Handling. The message address COMBRITFOR .... (as allocated in the relevant SAE Part 2 plan) will be used on all signal messages to and from the OCR in the country concerned. After implementation all signal messages concerning the operation are to have as the first two words of the text "OPERATION

......." (Code word, see paragraphs 138-141).
