GUIDE TO THE COMPLETION OF THE SAE PROFORMA

1.

The notes set out in the following paragraphs are designed as a guide to MOD staff in the completion of the SAE planning proforma on the left hand side of the page. It is to be used on those occasions when immediate or 'hot' planning is required for a SAE from a country for which a Part 2 plan does not exist. The paragraph numbers quoted at the start of each of the paragraphs in the guidance notes refer to the paragraph numbering of the proforma opposite.

2. Para 2. The number of evacuees will be the total number of UK nationals and other categories for whom the UK has accepted responsibility. These numbers will be provided by the FCO Defence Department who will consult the post in the country concerned.

Para 4. Time zones for most countries may be obtained from the Air Almanac or Nautical Almanac.

4. Para 5. The map plan in the Annex should show the airlift deployment routes and a map of the country concerned. These should indicate reception and evacuation airfields, numbers of evacuees from each evacuation point, major towns, ports, beaches (if applicable) and boundaries. The printing

of the map annex is normally done by 42 Survey Regiment (through D Mil Svy).

5.

Para 6. It is unlikely that other UK plans will apply directly to the country from which a SAE is now being planned, although associated UK plans could exist for another country in the same geographic area eg. the Caribbean. A civil evacuation plan for the country concerned may exist and copies may be obtained from the Defence Department of the FCO.

Para 8. A copy of the proforma required for Annex B in at page L1-1 of this guide.
