CRL (HF) Circuits. The activation of CRL (HF) and terminal facilities at the selected anchor stations defined in Part 2 plans.

Liaison Teams at Anchor Stations. Arrange when appropriate, in conjunction with HQ UKLF and the DCN Station concerned, for the attachment to the anchor station concerned of a liaison team from the unit providing the CRL transportable station.

51. Alternative Routeing for Traffic. If CRL(S) and CRL (HF) circuits are not established, traffic will be cleared via alternative means, in order of preference:

UK diplomatic communications.

RAF communications, but air operations control and air management traffic will take precedence.

d. Civil systems, normally unclassified traffic only. For messages classified Restricted and above encryption must be carried out at source.

Frequency Security Policy.

(1) Joint HF Frequency Security Policy No 1, in accordance with the Manual of Joint Warfare, Volume II (JSP2) (3rd Edition), Chapter 2, paragraph 8a (1) will be followed on all local tactical circuits. HF frequencies, frequency designators and circuit frequency component numbers will all be treated as classified and must not be transmitted in clear over unprotected circuits.

(2) Joint HF Frequency Security Policy No 2, in accordance with JSP2 (3rd Edition), Chapter 2, paragraph 8a (2) will be followed on all HF circuits where frequency changes follow a predictable pattern, for example CRL.

Assignment.

(1) TACAN. If an ATC team is deployed they may wish to set up a mobile TACAN beacon. The FSO is to clear the frequency and code identifier through the local authority concerned for use by UK Services immediately on arrival in the operational area.

(2) HF Band. Frequencies in the HF band are assigned in the Schedule of Circuits at Appendix 2, and are applicable to all Part 2 Plans.

(3) VHF/UHF Bands. Frequencies required in the VHF/UHF bands may be assigned by the FSO on a non-interference basis.
