Maps may be issued on receipt of a MOD Warning Order of the implementation of a JTP or on the authority of:

(1) G3/G4(0) HQ UKLF for HQ UKLF Stock.

(2) Ops 3 HQ STC for HQ STC Stock.

(3) ACOS(P) CINCFLEET for CINCFLEET Stock.

7. The Geographic Support Plan to meet mapping requirements will be included in the review of JTPS. The Geographic Support Steering Committee (GEOSOC) and Working Party (GEOWP) will coordinate mapping requirements by regular meetings with PPG and DG Mil Svy, with co-opted members attending as required and with representatives of other staffs attending as observers.

MAP AND CHART DISTRIBUTION

8. 42 Svy Engr Gp will be tasked to issue the planning pack immediately on receipt of authority and to maintain a map supply team at intermediate notice (72 hours) for:

Issue of reconnaissance and deployment maps as required.

Deployment with the main force as required.

LOCAL RESOURCES

9. In some cases it will be possible to obtain supplementary mapping from the local survey organisation. The British Military Operational Grid and the grid used by the local mapping may not be the same. The Map Supply Detachment (MSD) will be responsible for ensuring compatibility; contact addresses for local survey departments will be included in those plans which provide for an MSD.

MAP PRODUCTION

10. In the planning and mounting phases there may be additional mapping requirements such as operational overprints of reserve stocks or special briefing maps. Requests for such additional map production work are to be submitted to DG Mil Svy MOD:
