Register and note of advice on Hong Kong law
5.22
A Register of Advice on Hong Kong law should be kept by every foreign law firm taking in a solicitor as a partner or employee to practise Hong Kong law.
5.23
The name of a solicitor partner who should be responsible for maintaining the Register of Advice should be notified to the Society.
5.24
Where any advice on Hong Kong law is provided by any member of a foreign law firm in connection with any
matter
5.25
(a)
(b)
the solicitor providing the advice should enter in the file relating to the matter a note containing the following matters
(i) the name of the solicitor providing the
advice;
(ii) the name of the person to whom the advice
was provided;
(iii) the date, time and place the advice was
provided; and
(iv) the nature of the advice sought;
an entry should be made in the Register of Advice containing
(i) the reference number of the file
containing the note of advice;
(ii) the name of the solicitor providing the
advice; and
(iii) the date, time and place the advice was
sought.
The Register of Advice should at all times be made available for inspection by the Society upon demand.
