Dear Mr. George,

I have the honour to refer to the decision of the Steering Committee of the International Conference on Indo-Chinese refugees, to hold a Technical Meeting on resettlement in Bangkok as soon as possible. In this regard, the UNHCR Headquarters has communicated to the Permanent Mission 10 Geneva that UNHCR Branch Office Bangkok is making the necessary arrangements for the meeting.

I wish to reconfirm that the Technical Resettlement meeting wil1 taxe place Monday 3 July 1989 at the Conference Room 1A on the third floor

the ESCAP Services Building, Rajdamnern Avenue, from 09:00 hrs. onwards, with a luncheon to follow.

AS your Government has made a generous pledge at the International Conference orl Indochinese Rafugens to provide additional resettlement places, you ara cordially invited to participate in the discussions on the practical arrangements to implement the recommendations. This invitation 19 extended to all the Governments which have made a similar pledge.

Attached herewith are the tentative annotated agenda and a list of participants for your information. My office, on its part, is currently preparing some background statistics of the pre-cut-off date Vietnamese population in camps in South East Asia for distribution at the meating.

Mr. A. George
