FOREIGN AFFAIRS COMMITTEE: VIETNAMESE BOAT PEOPLE
1.
The Foreign Affairs Committee have arranged to take evidence from FCO officials on the provision for Vietnamese Boat People in the Winter Supplementary Estimates. The Committee have asked for a Memorandum on the subject in advance of their session. The attached draft Memorandum which has been agreed with Mr McLaren, RMD and the Treasury, is submitted for approval. It has not yet been seen by FCO Ministers.
2. The FAC session is planned for Wednesday 6 December. PRU have asked for the agreed memorandum to be with them by Monday 27 November for onward transmission to the Committee.
PRU will be offering advice on which officials should represent the FCO.
3.
I am minuting separately about a memorandum for the FAC on the provision in the Winter Supplementary Estimates for Assistance to Eastern Europe.
