We do not have detailed information on HMG

contribution towards VBP issues. The only information available to us are :

(a) In 1987, PDS17.7m was contributed towards

UNHCR programme (your Telno. 524);

(b) In 1988, PDS21m was contributed, of which

PDS1 million was specifically for VR in HK (Telno. 039). In addition PDS2,500 was made for language training for VR in HK (Telno. 3319);

(c) In 1989, HMG contributed PDS6 million for the construction of the open refugee camp in HK at Pillar Point (Telno. 371); US$125,000 in response to UNHCR appeal on voluntary repatriation; PDS4.5 million for emergency accommodation (Telno. 1713).
