Vietnamese Boat People:

Repatriation

The Secretary of State has seen minutes by Mr Lidington and Mr Fraser of 1 December. He notes that Mr Maude is looking into this issue in greater detail than we did at the Secretary of State's office meeting last week. His own inclination is to think, like Mr Lidington, that more policemen tend to mean less fuss and vice versa. He hopes that the Vietnamese could be brought to agree with this.
