Vietnamese Boat People
The Secretary of State has asked me to pass on his thanks to all those involved in preparing the return of the boat people from Hong Kong yesterday. He is conscious that this was the result of many months of intensive work by those concerned. The fact that it was managed so well has been a great help to him and to other Ministers in handling this very difficult matter at the political level. He is most grateful.
