VIETNAMESE BOAT PEOPLE: REPATRIATION

We had a word this afternoon following Mr Maude's meeting on Vietnamese Boat People. A submission, a copy of which is attached, is being given to Mr Maude tonight before the papers are put to the Secretary of State. It seemed to me, however, that the Secretary of State might like time to consider this at leisure and to read the background papers. You may, therefore, like to send the attached copy to the Secretary of State. The formal submission will follow thereafter once Mr Maude has had time to give his views.
