Since 3/4 June, MPs, journalists and members of the public have not been slow in offering advice to HMG on our Hong Kong policy. Ideas have ranged from the half sensible to the completely barmy. Mr Maude believes it would be useful to have a list (without analysis) of these. He sees it as a mind-clearing exercise, rather than as a potential quarry for future initiatives, although this need not be ruled out.
Mr Maude would be grateful if you could put something together by Friday 22 September.
