CHINESE ATTITUDE
It is true that Chinese officials have indicated publicly that
any change to British nationality policy is a matter for HMG.
But they have not indicated whether they would welcome or oppose
any such change.
We have had no formal discussions with Chinese on this issue in
recent times. In present circumstances, it clearly be inappropriate
to do so.
