ROYAL SOCIETY FOR ASIAN AFFAIRS ANNUAL DINNER, 2 FEBRUARY

1.

Lord Glenarthur has accepted an invitation to be guest of honour at the above dinner and to speak. Since another principal guest will be the Indian High Commissioner it seems right for the sub continent to be Lord Glenarthur's main theme.

X12.

We have sketched out the attached outline, which also allows for reference to other parts of Asia. Dr Hall has kindly agreed to contribute, in consultation with his colleagues in Research Department, an introductory passage surveying the history of early contacts between Britain and Asia. The RSAA have just told me that the Korean and Indonesian Ambassadors (and possibly the Malaysian High Commissioner) will be present. If you think the themes suggested for your patch are appropriate, would you please let me have two or three paragraphs? If there are any points you believe should be inserted please let me know.

3. It would be helpful if you could let me have contributions by close of play on Tuesday 24 January. I apologise for the short notice.
