Given that the Secretary of State will be on holiday during
the period in question, it would, I am sure, be well understood by
Dame Lydia if he decided that he was unable to see her on this
occasion. There will certainly be other opportunities: she is a
regular visitor to this country.
9.
Mr Maude will however be in London at the time and would be
free to see Dame Lydia on the morning of 22 August. This meeting could be instead of, or in addition to, a meeting with the Secretary
of State.
