Steps taken to ensure that immigration officials are aware of conditions in Hong Kong and travel patterns from territory.
"Hotline" telephone advisory service between the Hong Kong Government Office in London and ports of entry has been in action since 1 November. So far only 2 Hong Kong visitors have used it.

Formal complaints submitted by individual travellers still being investigated. Each complainant will receive full written
response. If OMELCO hear of any further complaints, will be glad
to look into them. Will continue to monitor situation.
Latest available figures show that in August and September, 39
Hong Kong travellers were refused leave to enter out of 17,000
arrivals. This is refusal rate of 0.23% compared with 0.5% in 1987.
Only 11 Hong Kong BDTCs refused entry in October.
