This Union Believes:

1. That the demands of the protesters were wholly legitimate.

2. That the massacre of thousands of innocent, unarmed civilians was

totally reprehensible and without justification.

3. That the atrocities committed by the Chinese military were disgusting

crimes against humanity

4. That the 40th Annivesary celebrations were heavily ironic and

extremely unrepresentative of the demands of the people for freedom and democracy

This Union Welcomes:

1. The formation of independent students' and trades' unions throughout

China

This Union Resolves to:

1. Actively support and assist the Chinese Solidarity Campaign, and June

4th China Support.

2. To utterly condemn the massacre and repression in China and to send a

letter of protest to the Chinese Embassy demanding the release of all imprisoned students, workers and academics. In particular to demand the release of:

and all other political prisoners, including

and the other

imprisoned leaders of the 1978-81 "Beijing Spring" democracy movement.
