and that the personal safety of the students who have participated in demonstrations and hunger strikes be guaranteed.

That the Chinese leadership go along with the students' request

to correct its mistakes, eliminates 'guan dao' (profiteering by officials) and punish the corruptive elements.

That the leadership hands over the corruptive relatives of Chinese leaders to the legal department for investigation and punishment; their ill-gotten gains should be spent on education and the improvement of the situation in which persons with manual skills earn more money than those with intellectual capabilities.

6. That the leadership adopts measures to curb the squandering and

blatantly extravagant use of public funds; that the leadership stops the import of luxury cars and electric appliances, cancel all sorts of special privileges and live frugally with the masses.

That the leadership announces plans for political reform; accepts the people's supervision and perfects the system of the National People's Congress.

That Beijing reaffirms its guarantee to the people of Hong Kong; the wishes of the Hong Kong people should be fully respected in the formulation of the Basic Law and that democracy, freedom and human rights of the Hong Kong people should be guaranteed.

Beijing's high-handed and over-tough measures in handling-the student movement have seriously damaged the positive results achieved in the overseas Chinese policy, the policy towards Hong Kong and Macau and that towards Taiwan. The many years of hard work has nearly been destroyed at one go. The Beijing leadership urgently needs substantial salvage measures to calm the agitation of the Chinese overseas.
