The latest events in Beijing have urged us into stating the followings:

1) The lately violently suppressed student movement in Beijing is patriotic

and democratic, not "anti-revolutionary", in nature;

2) We demand the immediate release of Mr.

3) We demand a public statement from the Chinese authorities

explaining the meaning of Mr.

s arrest;

4) The British embassy in Beijing must carry out a detailed investigation

of Mr.

's case, and must offer full protection to all Hong Kong citizen still remaining in Beijing.
