Around 28 essential Embassy staff remaining.

30-35 staff plus dependants evacuated from 7 June. Other nationals advised to leave (normally 1500 FRG residents in China, of whom 800 in Peking and 600 in Shanghai). Special charter flight

arranged.

France

Compiling a list of possible evacuees from Embassy with major reductions in trade, scientific and cultural sections planned.

Expect to evacuate those staff from 12 June. (Staff on leave

ordered not to return.) Special charter flight arranged. Plans to evacuate remaining nationals (c. 500) including Embassy dependants

on 9 June.

Denmark

7 essential Embassy staff remaining.

3 staff leaving and 2 staying away. Dependants leaving on

9 June.

Other EC Embassies

Normal levels being maintained. Only those due to leave shortly anyway being sent home.
