(a) Designate Boatswain-Bird Island as a totally protected area. (b) Designate beaches which have the largest numbers of nesting turtles as sanctuaries, protected from environmental disturbance. (c) Ensure monitoring of the wild populations of endemic plants. (d) Establish a small botanic garden for the propagation and
cultivation of endemic plants.
(e) Protect the habitat of the shrimp species Procaris ascensionis
and Typhlatya rogersi.
2. The UK Government, through MOD, should:
(a) Instigate and carry out a cat control programme.
(b) Take steps to control spearfishing.
(c) Ensure rubbish disposal does not degrade the environment.
