Financial transactions between Hong Kong and
China continued to grow. Claims on China's banks and on
the non-banking sector rose by 8.1% and 24.4% respectively
during the third quarter. Year-on-year, the corresponding
increases were 26.7% and 87.2%. Liabilities to China's
banks grew by 13.7% during the third quarter and by 19.4%
over the preceding twelve months.
