If the follow-up conference on "Reform of the Financial & Banking System in China" were to materialise we would be interested in participating. After consulting colleagues in the Hong Kong Government it appears that the Deputy Secretary for Monetary Affairs and/or a representative from the banking sector here might be worthwhile participants.

I should be grateful for your view as to whether Hong Kong's participation would be welcomed and for any news on the con- ference.
