After the meeting, Li and his wife hosted a banquet for the Sihanouks and other Kampuchean visitors. Chinese Foreign Minister Qian Qichen was present at the meeting and the banquet.

Cambodian resistance leaders meet Thai Prime Minister (Excerpts) At 1030 today [11th September] at Ban Phitsanulok, Prime Minister Gen Chatchai Chunhawan held an informal meeting with Prince Norodom Ranariddh, personal representative of Prince Norodom Sihanouk, which lasted for over an hour. General Chawalit Yongchaiyut, army C-in-C and acting supreme commander, was reportedly at the meeting. Suwit Yotmani, spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office, told reporters that the Prime Minister met Prince Norodom Ranariddh because he wants to talk to all the Khmer factions in order to gather information for discussions in Paris during his forthcoming visit to France late this month. The meeting with Prince Norodom Ranariddh was informal... Foreign Minister ACM Sitthi Sawetsila told reporters that his ministry only helped co-ordinate the meetings. There positively will not be any meeting on the settlement of the Cambodian problem in Bangkok. The results of this meeting will probably be reported to the international conference in Paris...

According to the latest report, the Prime Minister hosted a dinner for the leaders of the other two Khmer factions Son Sann and Khieu Samphan at Ban Phitsanulok this evening. Chatchai is expected to meet these two leaders tomorrow (12th September]. Meanwhile, advisers to the Prime Minister confirmed that Hun Sen will come to Bangkok for talks, but there is still no schedule. PRC, Laos initial consular treaty, agreement (Text) China and Laos initialled here today [Peking, 11th September] a consular treaty and an agreement on mutual exemption of visas between the two countries. Chinese and Lao consular delegations held the second round of talks in Peking on 10th-11th September, at which they reached agreement on the signing of the two documents. Premier instructed concerned authorities to focus more attention on illegal imports of mainland agricultural items and meats which Li said not only present a potential health problem to residents on Taiwan but also undercut the competitiveness of locally produced agricultural products. Li said that he hopes authorities will abolish the illegal imports and that the national defence and finance ministries will work together with law enforcement officials to solve the problem. New "patriotic association" on Taiwan
(Text) An All-People Patriotic Association was set up in Taiwan recently. According to a 'Hongkong Times' report, the association issued a statement emphasising that there is only one China, and the two sides across the Taiwan Strait should be reunited peacefully and reject any separatist ideas.
The All-People Patriotic Association elected 46 members to the board of directors and the board of supervisors. Many of them are members of the Legislative Yuan, senior members of the National Assembly, or members of the Control Yuan. The association now has a membership of over 300.

Sino-Portuguese Group to meet in Macao in December (Text) According to a Xinhua report from Macao, Ambassador (?Ka-cha-li-luo), head of the Sino- Portuguese Joint Liaison Group on the Portuguese side, visited the Chinese Representative Office of the Sino- Portuguese Joint Liaison Group on the afternoon of 8th September to meet with Ambassador Kang Jimin, head of the Joint Liaison Group on the Chinese side. The two sides exchanged views on preparatory work for the sixth meeting of the Joint Liaison Group scheduled to be held in Macao on 5th December.
It was learned that during the sixth meeting of the Joint Liaison Group, consultation will continue on Macao's participation in the International Customs Organisation and the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade as a free port and separate customs territory.
