Shortly after the press release from the Bank, Mr Marcello Mathias, a spokesman of the Portuguese MFA in Lisbon reported that he had noted that the report in the media that the next meeting of the Luso-Chinese JLG in Macau would take place on 31 July and therefore he wanted to make it clear that no date had ever been fixed for the next meeting, which at the moment was still unknown.

(h) One editorial stated that since the contract

between the government and BNU would expire at the end of 1995, the Bank of China or any other authorities of the PRCG had no say in the matter.
