Voice of the National Army of Democratic Kampuchea in Cambodian 2315 gmt 2 Aug 89
Text, as broadcast, of 1st August interview with Son Sen, C-in-C of the National Army of Democratic Kampuchea [NADK], by VONADK and VODK representatives dated 1st August, read by
announcers
Question: On 30th July in Paris, in an attempt to deceive others, Nguyen Co Thach and puppet Hun Sen said that Vietnam has already withdrawn 24,000 troops, including their weapons and war materiel, from Cambodia. There are now only 26,000 Vietnamese troops left in Cambodia. All of these remaining troops will be withdrawn from Cambodia between 21st and 27th September. What is your opinion of this statement by Nguyen Co Thach and puppet Hun Sen?
Answer: This Nguyen Co Thach-puppet Hun Sen statement has often been made by Nguyen Co Thach in an attempt to deceive international opinion. He has often declared that this or that number of troops has been withdrawn. But it is generally known that the announcements and troop withdrawal ceremonies organised by the Hanoi authorities are just schemes to deceive world public opinion. It is generally said that their troop withdrawals are just troop deployments.
Since we have been fighting on the battlefield, we would like to take this opportunity to testify to the real situation regarding the Vietnamese aggressor forces in Cambodia. It is as follows:
(1) On the battlefields west of Cambodia, Vietnamese troops are fighting the tripartite resistance forces every day. These Vietnamese troops belong to the 339th division, alias the 99th division, which has been stationed along Route 56 on the stretch between Leach and Pursat since 1979. This division, which has never been withdrawn form this area, is responsible for the entire area of Pursat Province and Moung district in Battambang Province.
Another division, the 330th Divison, alias the 90th Division, has been stationed at Dong Tong in Samlot district seat ever since 1979. This division is responsible for conducting mobile resistance to national army on both the Samlot and Pailin battlefields. The 330th division is currently engaged in a tense battle with our NADK on the Pailin battlefield.
The 309th Division, alias the 59th Divison, has been stationed in Kamping Puoy in Battambang Province since 1979. This divison is also currently engaged in a tense battle with our NADK on the Pailin battlefield.
The 5th Divison, alias the 75th Division, has been staitoned in Sisophon district since 1979. This division launches daily mobile attacks against the tripartite forces in Sisophon and Mongkolborei districts of Battambang Province.
The 302nd Division, alias the 72nd Division, has been stationed in Samraong townshp in Oddar Meanchey Province since 1979. This division launches mobile activities in both Oddar Meanchey and Siem Reap provinces.
The 307th Division, alias 57th Division, is responsible for Preah Vihear Province. Previously, this divsion was stationed in Choam Khsan district. Later, it moved from there to hide in Ta Seng. At present, it is stationed in Tbeng Meanchey district. The 315th Divison has been stationed on Chhep battlefield and in Chey Sen district of Preah Vihear Province since 1979. At present, it is hiding arms and ammunition at the border junction of Chey Sen and Siem Bok districts.
The 2nd Division has been stationed in Stung Treng Province since 1979. In April 1989, this division sent two regiments the 72nd and 73rd regiments to resist our National Army on the Pailin battlefield.
The 4th Division, which was formerly stationed in Koh Kong Leu battlefield, has now been moved to defend Route 4.
Therefore, there has been no change in the Vietnamese divisions assigned to the western part of Cambodia since 1979. They have not been withdrawn anywhere. They have only been moved out of one area to another in order to resist our National Army.
(2) The Vietnamese divisions stationed in the interior of Cambodia are as follows:
The 9th Division is stationed in Udong district and along Route 26 in Kompong Speu Province. This division has assigned a regiment to resist our National Army on Pailin battlefield.
The 6th Division is stationed at Kompong Kantuot on the battlefield south-west of Phnom Penh. Some troops from this division have been sent to also resist our National Army on the Pailin battlefield. The Pailin battlefield commander calls them the capital force.
The 310th Division is stationed in the eastern part of Kompong Cham Province and Prey Veng Province. It is also stationed at the junction of routes 7 and 15, at Preah Theat along Route 7, and at Kompong Trabek in Prey Veng Province. This division is launching mobile activities to resist our National Army on Kompong Cham and Prey Veng battlefields.
The 8th Division is stationed in Kampot Province. This division launches activities throughout the entire area of Kampot Province.
In addition to this, there are also a number of independent regiments such as the 108th, 196th and 14th independent regiments. They are now stationed in Mondolkiri Province. Some regiments have just been dispatched from Vietnam. The 5th Independent Regiment is stationed in Kompong Svay district, the 7th Regiment in Stoung District of Kompong Thom Province, the 6th Regiment in Kralanh district of Siem Reap Province, and the 117th Regiment in Chamka Leu
