PUBLIC REACTION

The public at large is unlikely to show much interest in the Bill. The legal profession will maintain its opposition to the Attorney
General's membership of the Commission, the quorum of six which they consider to be too low, and the voting requirement which they think should not allow a resolution to be made with more than one dissenting vote. However they are likely to welcome the proposed consultation mechanism for the appointment of the two members from the legal profession.

A press release will be issued to explain the changes effected by the Bill.
(The Secretary for Constitutional Affairs, Mr. M.M.Y. SUEN the Deputy Registrar, Supreme Court, Mr. B. SUTTILL, and Senior Assistant Law Draftsman, Mr. A.R.
