OBJECTIVES
The year 1989 is the thirtieth anniversary of the UN Declaration on the Rights of the Child and it is also the tenth anniversary of the International Year of the Child. It is expected that the discussion and adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child will be on the agenda of the UN General Assembly this year. Therefore, we believe it is appropriate that an International Conference on the Protection and Promotion of Children's Rights be held in Beijing in June 1989.
The objectives of the Conference are to appeal to and mobilize individuals and organizations to promote and protect children's rights and thereby foster an environment of healthy and happy development of children.
