I am writing to seek your assistance in relation allowances for Members of Parliament

of payment

and Ministers.

The Legislative Council of Hong have by 1991, for the first time in its number of directly elected members from geographical constituencies.

This development has prompted us to

start

a review on the basis and level of allowances for Members of the Legislative Council during its next term commencing 1991. Obviously, work has to commence now.

It would be extremely helpful if you could kindly provide us with some information on the basis for paying MPS and Ministers for holding their offices in Parliament and Government respectively, and the relativity of their pay with the civil service.
