running costs. Where does the £4.5 million fit into this?

Money will be found from savings in other areas. What areas? Will the diverted funds be replaced in due course?

Committee understands that Hong Kong Government have requested additional funds. How much and for what purpose?

Have negotiations with Vietnamese been completed? Timing of first operation. Will force be used?

Repatriation Costs: Do costs include cost of transport to Vietnam and pocket money for individual returnees?

Monitoring: How will monitoring be done? How many staff in the British Embassy will be designate for this purpose? What does

monitoring actually entail? What is the attitude of the UNHCR to monitoring?

Voluntary Returns: How many have volunteered? How many still in the pipeline? What is being done to encourage more people to volunteer and to ensure that volunteers are returned quickly to

Vietnam?
