(b) Accommodation

Where are the boat people held?

Details of camps?

- Boat people are held in 17 camps in Hong Kong. Five of these camps (Pillar Point, Tuen Mun, San Yick, Kai Tak and Sham Shui Po) are for refugees. One of the camps (Lo Wu) is reserved for those

who have volunteered to return to Vietnam. One of the camps (Chi Ma

Wan) is for those screened out. The other camps are for those still

awaiting screening.

Would be happy to give Committee a table giving details of numbers held in individual camps and map showing where they are.

Are any boat people still kept on ferries/Soko islands?

Ferries.

A few boat people are still on ferries. But should all have been transferred to purpose built accommodation by end of

month.

Soko Islands. No boat people kept on Soko islands at present. But

Tai a Chau is being turned into a reception centre.
