We have pressed the US hard on the illogicality of their approach and its inconsistent application (vide Haitians, Central Americans). We will continue to do so.

HMG should press the Chinese to adopt a positive and responsible approach to the position:

Agreed. We have done so repeatedly and will continue to do so. Little success so far.
