8 November in connection with their EC enquiry, the Committee would not necessarily expect him to give evidence on this occasion, particularly as it concerned an interim reply. Mr Hutton mentioned 13 December as a possible date (the Committee prefer to take

evidence on a Wednesday). The Committee might then wish to take

further evidence from the Secretary of State when we submitted our

follow up reply.
