TRANSCRIPT A SELECT COMMITTEE OI HONG KONG 12 JUIN 1980

12

CHAIRMAN:

You mentioned

moment ago that the new arrangemente

which of couree were under discussion when this Committee

visited the territory a few weeks ago in the Joint Liaison

Group and are the matter in focus in the drafting of the

Basic Law, I think we would like to pursue, if we may, how

Law Drafting Committee or that the Basic Law Consultative

Committee had suspended its work. I suppose one of the

questions that comes straight out of this is to enquire

whether, and under what circumstances, ода can foresee the

work of the Basic Law Committees worth beginning again in

a worthwhile way.

SIR DAVID VILSON:

the moment, the Consultative Committee is not operating at

the moment, one group of mainland drafters who should have

visited Hong Kong postponed or cancelled their visit,
