TRANSCRIPT É SELECT COMMITTEE OI HONG KONG
12 JULB 1989
11
SIR DAVID VILSON (COFT):
Above all they are trying to go to North America
which has said that these people do not qualify for
resettlemant in the United States as ordinary refugees
because they come from North Vietnan.
Hong Kong is caught between this upper and nether
millstone.
KR LESTER:
I appreciate just how difficult it is for Hong Kong.
CHAIRMAN:
Sir David, our time is up and your time is nowW
I think
demanded elsewhere and you have to catch an aeroplane so I
think we must bring these proceedings to an end. we do appreciate in this Committee that you have a world size responsibility on your shoulders and we wish you God-
speed. Is there anything that you would wish to say
finally before we adjourn this Committee?
BIR DAVID VILSON:
Thank you very much Chairman.
The only thing I
would say is that I believe that the work the Committee is
doing, and the report you will make,
is now doubly
important in light of what has recently happened.
