KR. TIX REITON (COFTD):
to distinguish between those subject to immigration
other beans,
control and those not. That distinction was made by
so that holders of CUKC passports issued
under the authority of colonial administrations such as
Hong Kong, were subject to immigration control.
Throughout the same period, Westminster legislation was
providing for the independence of former colonies and the
domestic legislation of those newly independent states
providing for the establishment of their own citizenships.
It was not then until 1981 that nationality law was
amanded to take account of nearly twenty years of
immigration control, but those changes in nationality law
did not alter any particular person's position under
immigration controls, but for the first time the British
Nationality Act of 1981 gave names to citizenship status
which reflected the longstanding position under
immigration control of those concerned and these new
citizenship names took account of the territory to which
the holder of the differing citizenship statuses already
belonged.
