China now third largest investor in manufacturing sector in Hong Kong. 15 Chinese banks in Hong Kong account for about one quarter of retail banking sector. More than 800 PRC provincial and local enterprises represented in Hong Kong.

Over 5,000 PRC officials working in Hong Kong in PRC enterprises. Another 4,000 in Hong Kong for training, study or temporary stay.

Over 15,000 official PRC delegations to Hong Kong in 1988, involving over 60,000 people up about 90% on

1987.
