SECRETARY OF STATE'S APPEARANCE BEFORE THE FOREIGN AFFAIRS COMMITTEE ON WEDNESDAY 22 MARCH.

1.

Further to my minute of 13 March, I confirm that the Secretary of State's briefing meeting will take place at 08.15 on Thursday 16 March. The Private Secretary has indicated that the Secretary of State would wish you, Miss Marsden, Mr Wood, Mr Fifoot, Mr Whitehead and I to be present.

2.

As you know, we hope to receive advance notice of the line of questioning from the Clerk either on Thursday or Friday this week, and I should emphasise that this is provided in confidence and under no circumstances should Members of the Committee be informed. A further slot has been reserved in the Secretary of State's diary at 08.30 on Tuesday, 21 March, in case any additional time is required for briefing.
