Of all provinces in China, Hong Kong has its closest economic relation with Guangdong. Guangdong is now China's top exporting province. Hong Kong is its largest export market, accounting for nearlt 70% of the province's total exports. Hong Kong is also most important source of foreign investment in Guangdong (60.8 %).
With continuation of open door policy, China's economy seems set to become incresingly externally oriented. Pearl River Delta region in particular shows every sign of contiuing to be an area of high growth. Hong Kong already has important role to play in economic development of southern China and, more widely, of China as
