CONFIDENTIAL
Committee cannot manage a date before 27 March, but the Clerk has suggested 6 April. I recommend that we should agree to this date: Mr McLaren and Mr Fifoot would both be available.
6.
We have also asked the Clerk whether the Committee would like further briefing on other subjects. His advice is that they would welcome more details on
(a) potential pitfalls they are likely to encounter, particularly when speaking to the Hong Kong press;
(b) specific issues such as Air Services, Human Rights, the
work of the JLG;
(c)
the personalities and political groupings they are likely
to meet in Hong Kong.
These and other points could be covered orally at the informal session on 6 April, supplemented by written material as necessary.
